Prince Gyasi (Nyantakyi) is a 23 years old Ghanaian creative and visual artist. He is the co-founder of Boxedkids. He started taking pictures in 2011, when he was at the Accra Academy High School, using at the time a Blackberry. Prince bought his first iPhone in 2014 and suddenly realized he could seriously use it as his creation tool, as a means of expression. His work is all about conveying feelings through colors and giving the door to the people that are left aside from the society. Prince considers his use of colors as a therapy to his audience and aims at leaving a strong, positive imprint on the people’s mind, heart and soul. Prince currently lives and works in Accra, Ghana.
Prince Gyasi captures the atmospheres and colors of his land, Ghana, but above all tells people. Most of the photographs were taken at Accra, his hometown and are characterized by the chromatic harmony generated by the contrast of dark skin on the bright and sunny colors of objects, fabrics and clothing. The close-ups are part of his series “BoxedKids”, a project that has contributed to the GoFundMe campaign, created by Gyasi and his partner to help the creative children of Jamestown to follow and realize their dreams.
