About ‘Prison’:

Petros Efstathiadis creates sculptures and decors from a varied array of materials that he finds. Once documented and photographed, the sculptures are dismantled and the components are returned to their everyday use.
The only thing that remains is the photograph: images which, once juxtaposed, recompose a fantastical and poetic memory of a place in turmoil.

In this world, transfigured by the photographer’s hand and eye, we encounter codes and images that are familiar or recently discovered: the prison environment and its extreme economy were inspired by the ruins of an old military camp next to his village which was selected to host refugees. Petros uses his memories as a soldier in that military camp distorting these memories with ideas about the future of this place as a prison.
