Marijane Ceruti is a photographer born and raised in Connecticut. Marijane graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2014 and is currently pursuing a Masters in Library and Information Science at Simmons University. Her work has always dealt with internal landscapes and introverted reflections on place and time. She uses symbolism and text to illuminate the significance of specific images and has recently been experimenting with the use of video.
Most recently, her work was exhibited at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and published on Aint-Bad’s website in 2018. She attended the 2017 New York Portfolio Review and was interviewed by Fotoroom in the same year. Her work has been exhibited through an online exhibition with the Griffin Museum in 2017, the 2016 Portrait: Photography exhibition at Black Box Gallery, and the 2015 State of Being Human exhibition at the University of Central Oklahoma.
About ‘Lost and Found‘ – words by Marijane Ceruti
Lost and Found is an ongoing project that began in 2014. It is a document of my journey of self-discovery and enlightenment through loss and explores my evolving relationship with it. I photograph in challenging times to provide perspective into those moments. I explore the relationship between photography, time as an erosive process, and death. I photograph loved ones and reflect on the relationship between myself, the subject, and the photograph particularly as the photograph comes to full maturity after the death or loss of the subject. I am inspired by the landscape and culture of New England, transitional periods, and my own emotions in response to an experience.
