Rich Gilligan holds an mfa in photography from university of ulster, belfast and a ba honours degree in documentary photography from the university of wales, newport. his work has been exhibited worldwide with recent exhibitions in dublin, london, berlin, dusseldorf los angeles and copenhagen photo festival 2013. gilligan has worked as a contributing photographer to a wide range of international magazines alongside working on a variety of advertising campaigns and commissions. he has been documenting homemade skateparks worldwide since 2008. this work titled “diy” was published as a book in 2012 with 19/80 editions. he was recently awarded the 2013 showcase photography award which highlights and supports the best of contemporary practice in ireland. the work produced from this exhibition is currently touring europe as a solo show.
