Johanna Gene Stickland says: “At the age of 18 I bought my first film camera and began to slowly start documenting moments in my life and using photography as an excuse to meet people and go on little adventures.
I now focus mostly on portraiture and photographing women. I’m inspired by the people in my life, paintings, poetry, movies, light, softness, old family photo albums, just simple beautiful scenes.
I’m drawn to quiet but powerful images that convey a feeling of intimacy. I love to photograph people in a relaxed and natural way. Photography brings me a lot of joy because it’s such a quick and fun way for me to express myself. ”
