Gordon von Steiner is a Canadian/British filmmaker and photographer widely recognized for his modern approach to fashion and the female form, as well as his creative use of sound design in film. Through cognitive triggers and a provocative aesthetic, Gordon’s films evoke an emotional reaction through image and sound. His work is constructed with a defined intent: to move the viewer’s initial observation of his art into their long-term memory.

Originally from Toronto, Gordon moved to New York and graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, with a concentration in experimental cinema. He is well known for his continuing film collaborations with legendary photographer Steven Meisel.

On this occasion he collaborated with Simon Porte Jacquemus producing an incredible fashion film. Simon Porte Jacquemus captured a cast of dancers, actors, models, acrobats, and even his young cousin Jean in Jacquemus designs. The film is all shot in one take, and gives a glimpse of the inimitable South of France, where he spent his childhood. It’s natural that the film would reflect Jacquemus’ upbringing, given the collection is inspired by his late mother.
