In 1997, Gianni Versace was found murdered on the front steps of his house in Miami.
Exactly 20 years later, producer Ryan Murphy decides to dedicate the second season of American Crime Story to this tragic chapter in the fashion history with “The Assassination of Gianni Versace”.
After the release of the first frames at the beginning of this year, finally, the trailer of the tv series has landed on the web and has every card to be massive. It is as extravagant, gold, glorious and excessive as we all expected.
“With Versace’s death, Italy and the world lost the fashion designer who freed fashion from conformism, giving it fantasy and creativity.” – Franco Zeffirelli.
Looking at this trailer, we are thrown inside the glamorous atmospheres in which Gianni, played by Edgar Ramirez, is immersed: beautiful women, parties, fashion; till we arrive at the tragic events that lead to his death and what happened after it. We particularly see the desperation of his partner Antonio D’Amico, played by Ricky Martin, and of his sister Donatella, beautifully played by Penelope Cruz, divided into the grief and the need to carry on the legacy of the fashion house.
Interesting is the central focus on the figure of Andrew Cunanan, played by Chris Darren, the sadistic psychopath that committed the homicide for reasons we still don’t know.
Many statements appeared during the year about both Donatella Versace and Antonio D’Amico not being completely happy and satisfied with the interpretation of the facts in the series.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see it in January 2018.
